Advance Auto Parts

Recently, I had the experience of needing a replacement of a part bought from Advance Auto Parts that had the full lifetime warranty. I was, to say the least, very angry before leaving the store because of a manager that either did not know what her job description entails or was just too lazy to do that job - and refused to replace the part because it was bought from a different Advance Auto Parts Store. I was alway under the impression that their warranty was good at "ANY" of their stores and it even states that on their web site. I have spoken with several others that have had similar hassels with Advance Auto Parts trying to worm out of honoring their lifetime warranties.
By the way, i am a regular customer at this store since it opened and have spent well over $3000. dollars on parts there just this year alone. This really makes me wonder about them giving me hassels over a $30 part and risking loosing a loyal customer.

Out of curiosity, - How many AF members have had problems with Advance not wanting to honor their warranties?? I am trying to figure out if this is a nationwide problem with them or is it just a localized problem with poor quality personnel at a particular store.

The one i have down the street is really good. The people who work there used to work at the napa store that closed.

I have never had any problem at the Advance in my town. They are always happy to replace any part for any reason, even electrical parts which is completely different at most auto parts stores. I will drive farther to go to an Advance because of their service and prices. It sounds like you just had a brush with a bad manager, complain to corporate or something they will make it right.

I live about half-way between 2 Advance stores that I go to a lot. Both are less than a mile from me. I have bought things from one store and later returned them to the other store without a problem.

The whole Advance chain seems like one big team. Their employees are always friendly and helpful and their prices are reasonable. I haven't had a problem.

Since Advance Auto Parts is so very large, I guess it would be possible to have something go bad, somewhere, once in a while. This could be because not all employees are perfect in this huge imperfect world.

I'm sorrry about the bad experience you had at your store. It doesn't sound like the typical Advance at all, to me.

It is probably that specific store cause the advance by me is pretty good.

Advance here has the most knowledgable staff that I can find around here. They're really good with any problems I've ever had.

Never had any problems here with either of the 3 closest Advance's I regularly visit. If that lady pissed you off badly enough, then I would recommend contacting her district manager and letting he/she know what's going on. No one should be allowed to get away with that, and I'm sure the district manager feels the exact same way too. I'm sure they have some kind of 1-800 number on the their website or possibly even in the store somewhere that you can call.

Hey relax I work at AAP. Now this guys has not said what part he was tring to get replaced. Unlike the zone or other places the advance computers are not linked each store holds its own data information. The part most likely had a limited lifetime warranty so if the part showed signs of abuse it would not be covered. Only if the part is a defect or stops working from normal use, Also we dont have the brake vocher programs where u can bring your old brakes back and swap then out if thats what it might be...Either way any store should be able to honor your warranty as long as you know what store you purchased it from so they can call and verfiy. Good Luck..

the two advanced auto locations near me tend to be overpriced and the staff at both locations are not very knowledgeable.

The part in question was a water Pump. It was bought with a lifetime warranty - it was a "New" not remanufactured part.
The water pump was not abused , or improperly installed - just normal use and the seal decided to start leaking (she never looked at the part anyway so she wouldn't know if it was or was not abused anyway)
Also i had receipt in hand & she never even looked at it she just said no and wanted me to go back to another store to get it replaced. ( that store is 14 miles out of the way)

Basically, she just did not want to do her job.

The Advance auto were I live sucks, I only go there when all other places fail...

What you do in that situation is complain loudlyabout how they sold you a defective part and are now refusing to exchange it... the key part is loudly so that other customers hear it. This works really well on dealerships too, especially if you complain in the showroom.
