Shifter removalMorgin 06-24-2006, 11:23 PM Hey everyone; This is my first time here so I hope that this question hasn't been asked before. I am replacing the automatic shifter in my 04 Monte carlo with a B&M universal, and I can't get the shifter knob off without destroying it. It is loose but wont budge, is there any way, or am I out of luck?:banghead: Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. monteman98 07-05-2006, 01:09 AM did you already take of the staple looking thing in the front? turn your car on. pull it all the way back put your break on. then turn the car off. thier should be a tiny staple type thing. get a small flat head screwdriver adn remove it. then pull hard. if u already did that i duno man sorry 99_monte 09-23-2006, 10:44 PM could u tell me what u did do to get it off. i am trying to do the same thing ChevyJoe 09-26-2006, 01:10 PM Monteman98 had the right idea. All you need to do to get the shifter off is to take a flat head screwdriver and pry out that staple shaped thing. The hard part is getting it back in, because the prongs push out. Shouldn't take you too long though. Later, Joe. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
