Well I was driving to the movies on a date and all of a sudden I get this nice burning rubber smell, so I assume that I toasted a serpintine belt, all the gauges were fine except the power which was only reading about 5 volts. So I continue on I was going to park I was almost there, then 100 feet from the parking lot I see flames coming from under the radio area. 10 Mins. later my interior was gone EVERYTHING but the metal was gone. Glass, carpet, chairs, dash, and all of my stereo equipment. It even melted the paint off of the doors.
R.I.P. "Kornmobile" V6 Camaro.

Caught on fire type-gone OR somebody stole it type-gone? :dunno: I hope you kicked their ass if they stole it. :iceslolan

Caught on fire type-gone is a good sign, depending on your point of view. If the g/f is a hottie, and she still calls you after your car combusted with her in it... good news, you're gonna marry her. If she doesn't call you, good news, you just weeded out someone with no spine as a potential spouse.

Insurance should handle it for you. Sucks though. Glad you're ok. (You ARE ok, aren't you?)

And I get my first bill for college in 7 days at least 5K for that so Im probalby going to get the "rambler" its a pontiac transport and at 50 MPH it shakes like a well you know those paint shakers like that.

She wasn't phased by it so I guess thats a good sign.
And yes it was cought fire gone not stolen. I'm fine except for my ego. and hope fully my comprehensive is that conprehensive but it is totaled no questions asked, I was looking at prices arround here and the dealers a asking over 6K so hopefully I get a good deal.

My sister had a 94 blazer that caught fire in the same exact way. Smoke starting coming from the center dash then next thing she knew the interior caught fire , followed by the rest of the car.

Yes, it was the Princess of darkness herself. I am surprised she didn't use the flames to open up a gateway to hell again to bring back more of her friends

was it aftermarket stereo equipment? If so, could be the result of a bad wiring job.

No thats never happened to me, I've never been on a date.

I am really wondering if you had an aftermarket stereo system installed. At a lot of those places they install some "sweet" system, and it blows fuses so they just by pass the fuse because a customer is about to come pick it up, and they can't afford to tell the customer there is a problem and they don't know how to fix it.

could get a new car out of this, either way aftermarket or not.

funny stepho. I dont think it was because of the stereo these guys did it (http://www.audiomidwest.com/) and they are extremely good installers and my amp fuse didn't blow so. Plus, its so burned that the wires are gone! Plus, as far as anyone knows, I had a perfect interior. But ya everyone is fine except my GF inhaled some smoke, but what amazes me is that it doesnt really bother me Im going from a 94 to like a 2000 or so +\- a few. newer car for me woo hoo :)
