AF type question.... Help?

okokok... why is it that when I'm on AF at home the threads don't update by themselves? IE: If I post in a thread, and then go to the main camaro forum, my post isn't listed in the thread, nor does the thread move to the top of the list. If I post a new thread, it works ok, but I have to press F5 to get my in thread posts to update.:screwy: :disappoin

I also have to hit the back button twice to go back a screen.:screwy:

This is the only website I have problems with. :frown: Anyone have any ideas??? :)

(Is this like some sort of pre-ban warning? :grinno:  )

Absofrigginlutely :grinyes: ,

:disappoin , Its because your using the back button to access the main forum and if your going back to the page before you posted. You post obviously won't be registered. Try hitting the werd camaro after automotive forums and chevrolet in the highlighted bar area. That will take you to the current forum listing.

Let me clarify... If I post in a thread, no matter HOW I get back to the main forum ("Camaro" or whatever) I still have to hit F5 to get the screen to update. If I START a NEW thread it works ok.

I am not THAT old that I don't understand what the "back" button does, I was just saying that for some reason (only on the AF), when I press the back button (ie if I read a thread and don't post... which happens alot because, well, you know why...) I have to press it twice... which means something is totally F'd up, just not sure what.

Well then I would think it would have to do with your old cookies and the new AF not working well together. Try clearing your old cookies and see if that changes anything.

Eh.. I usually have to refresh to see things too, Jim. It usually happens when AF is most busy though..

i spoke to god and he said it's because he hates you. he also said if you sort out those rusty manifolds/headers he'll think about changing it.

on a more serious note, i have no idea. mine works fine.

Around here we would refer the repair ticket as a Id10t - user defined error

Seriously I don't think there's really anything that could be done from the AF side. When traffic is high all I do is tap the back, drop list back to camaro and just hit refresh. :dunno:

You post in a thread, but it doesn't refresh the screen or page?

When one makes a thread or posts in one, after hitting the submit button, the page changes to indicate that the post is being submitted, there is also a link in the message in case it takes too long and if you don't want to wait to click on it. Either way the screen should refresh back to the thread/post that was submitted. At this point you go anywhere you want to and it should be registered in the index.

Let me know if that worked.

IF I post in a thread, it updates - goes through the whole "thank you for posting..." - and then displays the thread without my post. The new post won't show up until I hit F5. If I don't hit F5 and use the link at the top or bottom of the page to go back the the thread index, the post I just made is not reflected. If I hit F5 - THEN the thread I just posted in will move to the top of the list and my name will show as the person who made the last post .

Sorry, but I suck at computers so I can't describe it any better, but ask me anything I'm not being clear on and I'll try to answer it.

(edit = This ONLY happens on my home computer - runs windows XP home edition and I recently installed IE 7 beta . My work machine is running ie 6 and I have no problems.)

Try clearing your cookies, Open IE, go to tools, Internet Options, and clear cookies, close IE, and restart it. Log back into AF and see if that works.

It's been doing his LONG before the IE upgrade. I THINK it may have something to do with security settings or pop-ups, but I've reset the settings twice and still no dice.

This is getting aggrivating as hell... I guess I'll just have to do a my AF'ing at work... oh darn.
