Helly out there! I'm brand new to this forum. I need a little help if anyone can do so. I have a 99 tahoe 4 dr 4wd that i LOVE. My brother changed the starter for me when it jsut would not work anymore. Well, that problem is fixed and the truck starts like a dream. In doing fixing it tho the radio (standard stock am/fm/CD/tape) wont work. It has power and I was sent to the dealer to reprogram it. I called, gve the vin # and they want to charge me 56.00 to do this :nono:??????/ REALLY?????/ is there a way to get the code and do myself? this cant be that hard! :uhoh: thanks~

i know that other dealers like Honda and such do this kinda thing as a freebie as a good community service.

Will this be able to be done even tho my radio DOES NOT display anything? No LOC or INOP. the only thing i get it the time for a few seconds when i hit that button. there was a type in there (yes i still use them from time to time :wink:) and that ejected as did the CD so i know there is power. Please note. i talked to my brother and he corrected me. it was the ignition swtch he replaced. not the starter, not sure if that matters much. if this new and improved info changes anything please let me know.

Sorry to bug y'all again but before i tackle this radio thing can anyone tell me how i know if my radio is in LOC when the display does not show anything but time when i push the recall button. when i push anything else it wont display anything. :(
