I have a 98 Tahoe with 100K miles. I get varying opinions on the importance and interval for changing these fluids. What is the opinion here?

Follow the service manual for recommended fluid change intervals based on severe service for the best comfort zone. Switch to equivalent synthetic fluids
whenever you can if not already specified.
