And if it "took a dump", how does it get fixed? I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. Thank you for your time. I was told of this when I asked the question about my speedometer not working.

A BCM is a body control module. It is a computer chip that controls many of the car's functions, and the loss of your speedometer could be a BCM issue. I haven't heard of anyone actually fixing a BCM--normally you just replace the whole thing. Are you having other problems with the car--especially electronics like gauges, lights, power locks, etc?

Thank you for your reply. The front door power windows stopped working. How much would it be to replace the BCM?

it s probly not your BCM that made the windows not work. Most liky a window regulator or a fuse/relay.

If your BCM was toast, your dash, headlights and most other lights on the interior would NOT work.
