fuel pressure on LT1

okay, i finally checked my fuel pressure since ive been told this might be why my car is starting a little rough. when i turned the key on i got a reading of 44 then it went down to 38 and this is where it stayed. When i started the car is jumped up to 42 then bounced between 36-38 while idling. When car was revved up to about 3500 rmp the reading went up to 41-42 then as the engine revved down it would drop to about 32-34 before bouncing around the 36-38 marker while idling. if i depresserized the fuel while running my reading was 20. Shouldn't i be getting a constant reading of somewhere between 40-44 on this engine? I think this 36-38 is kinda low, but what do you guys think, and if you guys do think i have a problem does it sound like a fuel pump or leaking injectors? thanks again guys

Thats perfectly normal but if you want to make sure your pump is working perfectly. start the car let it idle for a minute then pull the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator and place your thumb over the hose you pulled off and watch the pressure. It should go up to around 47 - 48 PSI but all your readings are within normal operating range. Another way some people make sure the pump is providing enough fuel is tape the gauge to the windshield and take the car for a ride and WOT it, watch the gauge and make sure there is no fuel pressure drop off. If there is then your pump is not keeping up with the demand of fuel injector pulse.
