93 Gear Shift Bind

Hi All,
I am having problems getting my 93 Camry Wagon to shift into park. It takes a few tries and eventually the dash indicator will signal that it is in park. It feels as though something in the system is binding. All other shifting is normal. Does anybody know if there is a cable adjustment under the hood or under the console? Is this the beginning of the end for the cable? Thanks.

I swapped the transmission on my 91 and noticed there is quite a bit of adjustment in where the end of the shift cable bolts to the gear selector arm on the front of the transmission (an oval slot). I initially bolted mine up with the trans and shift lever in park and attached it where it lay; while this worked I found it was occasionally difficult to get the key out of the ignition; wiggling the shift lever would allow the key to be released. Eventually what I did was adjust the cable so it was slightly "pre tensioned" causing a more positive engagement into park. This took care of my problem, possibly this would help you too. I suggest before you adjust anything you make alignment marks of the original position on the trans lever and the end of the cable with a permanent marker so you can try moving it slightly forward/backward in the slot and still be able to return to your baseline if no difference is noticed.
