Water in Exhaust, Ticking Noise

Well this has been happen more and more often, why is there water in my exhaust? It definatly is water, not antifreeze or anything like that. My catback is still just bolted together and at the joints is where water will drip out.

Alos when I turn my car on (more often when its cold) there is a very loud ticking noise coming from the motor. That incresases as rpms increase, I read that this could possible be the lifters. If so how hard is it to replace for someone who has never done it?

The water, I think could be condensation from the hot exhaust from the engine and the cold metal from the exhaust pipes. Is it cold when the water drips out, because it usually happens when its cold out.
The tapping, I have no idea, it could be a lifter tapping.

My guess, condensation. Especially if it's just bolted together, that lets condensation occur alot easier than if it were welded.

Ya know.. my friend had the same described ticking noise on his T/A not too long ago. We both could have sworn it was his lifters, but turned out it was a loose heat shield on one of his spark plug boots. I'd give that a check and also just give a thorough look around and see if you can find anything that might be loose. Sometimes a little thing like that.. is just that, a little thing.

the water coming out is most likely just condensation and the ticking noise is probably an exhaust leak. Especially if your catback is just bolted up.

what kind of exhaust do you have? if it is one without a little condesation hole in the muffler like flowmaster then you will probly have alot of water leaking out. That is why flowmaster rust from the inside sometimes. And if water is leaking at the joints then it is probly not a good seal so that might be where the ticking is comming from a leaky exhaust. Get it welded and see if you can here it still. Check for pin holes in the exhaust manifold and y pipe.

Ditto ditto...

Water is normal. The ticking could be a leaking exhaust manifold gasket or a leak at the collector pipe, both will go away after a few minutes of run time and everything heats up and expands.

Water in exhaust is perfectly normal, water is a by product of combustion in engines. Since engines burn gas which is a hydrocarbon and the engine is combining it with oxygen when it burns it. Which puts the hydrogen molecules and the oxygen molecules together to form H2O (water). That's why you see the exhaust coming from vehicles on cold days...
