3.8l neutral rev limiter

This isn't a performance question or modification so this shouldn't be moved right? My question is who has a 3.8l that has a Neutral or Park rev limiter? Meaning when the car is in Neutral or Park only, do you have a rev limiter? If you do, what year is your car and what is the limiter set at? Thanks. I'm just curious because my '98 has a 4k limiter but my cousins '99 does not have one.

My Achieva has one, I thought there was something wrong with the car when I hit it. I had just changed the intake manifold gasket and was testing out the ability to rev it up and it hit a stall wall at 4K. I didn't know they even used it on F-bodys though.

Mine has one I spose. I can floor it in gear and doesn't hit a rev limiter but in neutral or park at 4k you can hear it hit and it'll drop 500-750 rpms and bounce back and forth. My cousins '99 doesn't tho. Just wondering if it's something only certain ones have or....

kind of on topic but does it damage your engine if you dont let up when you reeve limiter is engaging? like lets say your in park and put a brick on the gas and go eat dinner and come back(not saying you would just courious), would there be any damage done?

I wouldn't imagine if the rev limiter is set low enough, but I don't know...

I don't think it would cause any damage but would be a huge waste of gas. The rev limiters purpose is to keep the engine from damaging itself.

Pretty sure it will cause premature failure of the ignition module.
