Rear AC Blowing hot air.Bildo 06-19-2006, 12:38 PM I searched the forum but did not find anything. The rear AC will only blow hot air, very hot. The front is working fine. The vent controls are good. All the treads I searched said they had vacuum problems. I didn't see any problems with the hoses. I may have missed it but I thought someone might have a suggestion. This is a 98 Windstar. busboy4 06-19-2006, 01:44 PM I searched the forum but did not find anything. The rear AC will only blow hot air, very hot. The front is working fine. This is a 98 Windstar. Hi, I think you do have a vacuum problem. Did you open the side panel in the rear of van near the control? There should be a vacuum motor which controls the temperature blend in there that defaults to the heat setting when vacuum ceases. Whether there is a vacuum leak between the vacuum block near the accelerator and the vacuum motor, or the motor itself is bad you will have to try and discern. The fact that your front "blends" work normally means you have good vacuum and motors for the front blends. Let us know what you find. kevink1955 06-19-2006, 09:31 PM If your 99 has the same dash mounted controls as my late 96 (rear control with red dots for heat and blue dots for cool) the control is most likely bad. It controls fan speed as well as vaccumn to the rear unit. You can test the rest of the vaccumn system by disconecting the vaccumn lines from the rear fan selector switch in the dash and jumping them together. I used a piece of insulation stripped from a 14 ga wire as the test jumper. When the 2 lines are hooked together the rear unit should switch over to cool, if it does not your problem is elseware. dge29 07-12-2006, 12:12 AM Need also some help!!! I think i almost got the same problem. the front a/c blows cold. If I switch on the rear a/c, hot air is blown on the rear diffuser near the floor and there's no air coming out on the side and ceiling air diffuser. dougand3 07-12-2006, 11:11 AM lord Kelvin 07-16-2006, 03:47 PM Hey Bildo, don't know if you fixed your AC problem yet, but I also had a 98 Windstar with the problem you describe. I fixed it (this morning) by installing the part called out in the above thread. Ordered Ford Part "YH1465" from Rockauto.com for $16.09 (plus shipping). Installation was a breeze. Here is the link if you are interested. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1304648,parttype,4252 If you need installation instructions...let me know. Bildo 07-17-2006, 09:42 AM I haven't been able to fix it yet. I threw my back out at work and haven't been able to do anything. Thanks to all for the reply. I'll let you know when its fixed and what it took. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
