Right now she is 3.8L V6 pretty much bone stock performance wise. I havent done any mods to the car since i bought it 3 months ago..Ive heard that standard 3.8L V6 firebirds dont even dyno the full 200 hp but 160-180..anybody have any idea? Thanks

They're rated at 200 Hp to the flywheel, and after you factor out the drivetrain loss, you see about 160-170 Hp to the wheels.

I guess 160 as well.

As your car gets older, you loose horsepower, therefore, i am prolly near 150. Damn, this is nothing compared to the v8 cars. They would smoke the hell outta me or tmc2k1. Thats y i try to avoid pullin up to another v8 car, they just fly. If we compare Mr. Lous's car to a stock v6, thats like comparing a bicycle to a motorbike. Hey Lous, did u ever loose to any1 on a light?

Stoplight?? No.
Don't get many races though.

Thinking about it, I don't believe I have lost any race (track/street) yet with the new set-up. There are plenty of faster cars around here, I just am never out when they are.

Heh, the way I look at it.. Who needs alota horsepower when you're gettin 23 mpg in a sweet lookin ride :iceslolan

Actually alot of cars gain power after some mileage. With less friction amongst moving parts some cars actually get quicker with more mileage (Just look at alot of the long term testing of cars in Car And Driver).

Anyways, my guess would be that you'll kick out 150whp if you are an auto, and 160whp if you have a manual equipped car.

Your car won't be a drag strip terror, but for a runabout it's fairly quick. Just stay away from the new V6 Accords and Camry's and you will do fine :p

How much would the hp increse with magnaflow catback and spl cai? Can i reach 120mph?

Seriousley? I could get beaten by an Accord or Camry?

It isn't about top speed, it is about how fast you can get there.
Your car can already go 120MPH...the computer doesn't allow it to though because the tires aren't rated above that.

You will see maybe 15 RWHP with those mods.

What else would give me faster acceleration? I have 3.42 gears which i heard is pretty good for a V6...what else would help me reach top speed fast?

Power.
Turbo!!!!

go into Mr.Luos garage when he is sleeping and steel the ws6, that would be a great power upgrade!!

quite possibly..but we gotta remember the V6 is 3.8 so it does have some torque.. you might win initial launch, right?

wow i looked up hondas accord 2006 and it looks like it could beat me..their top model anyways..The standard v6 model with the 244 hp is 25k..So they will have to spend some money..If i get the chance ill race the v6 see how it goes and pray for the best.. :p

They have a 2.4 4 cylinder with 166hp( i KNOW i can beat that) then their other model is a 3.0 v6 puts out 244horses..With my car only putting out 205 :( Sad that a honda can beat a firebird..i cant wait to get my exhaust in 2 weeks then the intake soon after :) Would the 3.42 gears help me win vs an accord? Will exhaust and intake make my car more powerful with faster acceleration or just a higher top speeD?

More power makes the car accelerate faster.

Headers, Hi-flow cat, cat-back, cold air intake, underdrive pulley's, Swap in an aluminum driveshaft if you currently have the steel one, a TransGo shift kit*, an adjustable FPR (fuel pressure regulator) with some larger injectors, the list is endless.

EDIT: * A TransGo shift kit if you have a 4 speed auto

hey, gotta remember tho..thats like high rpm hp..not low rpm torque, the initial kick requires more torque. :] so maybe you have a chance :D

A TURBONATOR!! can't beat 35 horses for only 70 bucks!!

..jk,, yeah start with all the bolt-on stuff like blindxeyed mentioned. that's what i'm doin first on my car.

like i said my first 2 mods will be the magnaflow catbacks on july 15(bday) and then slp cai...the cai is like $200 right? Will i receive a noticeable increase in acceleration with those 2 mods

Mr. Luos

Won't be huge, but you will feel a difference.

increased throttle response will be very noticeable.

luos..im asking you this because you seem the mostk knowledgable :p What are the most commons mods that come after the catbacks and the cai?

Mr. Luos

To be honest, I am not sure on the V6 cars.
I would think a header set-up, and a better intake manifold if they make them.
