Strange noises from my tranny!

Hello to all! It has been a while.

My issue is that when I press my clutch pedal, (on my 1994 Chevy Camaro, 3.4l, V-6, 5 speed manual, 130,000 miles, original tranny/clutch) I hear a low pitched whining sound coming from my transmission. The sound goes away when I let off the clutch.

Is this an indication of a worn clutch?
Is there an adjustment that can be done to rectify this?
How much can I expect to pay for a clutch replacement, if that is my issue? (ballpark figure)

As always...Thank you for your contributions!

Definately sounds like it's time for a servicing of the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing.

I took her to AAMCO, who said it was a bad throw out bearing.

The throw out bearing costs $22.00 at Autozone but
they said I had to replace the clutch and it would cost $465.00 total.

Is it common to replace the clutch when replacing the throw out bearing?

Is a throw out bearing replacement something a "do it your-selfer" can tackle with an average set of tools?

Please respond with your thoughts,

and as always...Thank you!

I personally wouldn't replace just the bearing, as said I would do it all and be done, unless the clutch had low limes on it and something wasn't done right and caused a premature failure. Your average clutch set is usually anywhere from $125-200 for a stock appication.

The hardest part of doing it yourself is setting the bushing on the crank and lining the imput shaft back up, but most kits include a tool now that makes this much easier then the old days
