Seriously, it looks great.. especially in that shot of it right there.. but if you really have to, go with Sunset Orange not hugger.. I saw a 4th gen in hugger orange and it wasnt all that great.. looked almost like a faded red if you will..

Keep it the original color.
Doing a color change will kill the value of your car , unless you go the route and do it right. That would pretty much include disassembling the entire car inside and out including the engine compartment and painting every piece on it the same color. (otherwise it is going to look like a tacky salvage recovery car)

The car has no value anyways...it started out as a coupe, now t-tops. It's getting close to 100k miles. I've spent countless hours in labor and more money on this car than I paid for it and I've had fun with it. We own a body shop so painting the car and quality of the work will not be an issue, just what color is.

how did you convert it? angle grinder and determination?

Sawzall, dremel, cut off wheel, big hammer, big screw driver, sharp knife, and a lot of time. I have a few pics of doing it but am too lazy to post them...I'll try to find a link to me doing the conversion.

As kick ass as pink would be, I'm afraid a pink car would be just too kick ass for one man. I couldn't keep all the women off of me, I have enough trouble as it is with a black one.

believe it or not chicks would propbably swarm the car. you know what they're like they love pink stuff. so you'd always have a chick in the car with you.

I wish Kentucky would let me get a license plate long enough to say "NO FAT CHICKS" then the problem would be solved. I'd have a kick ass pink car, girls all the time, and no fat ones :) Really though, I'm just not man enough for pink....sorry ladies!

you know 6, on your pic, if you put your hand to block from the fron wheel back, your car kinda looks like the new zo6 vett in a way, then it kinda looks like the 06 GTO. keep it black, or sunset orange.

I love black, it's just impossible to keep clean as a daily driver. The paint is 8 years old and is starting to show it's age and the 87k miles.

I think if you want to accent the car keep it black with some ghost flames on it. I think that would look good...

Seriously though... SOM is cool. I like the ghost flames idea though... gotta find a better example for you... that one isn't exactly "ghost". I've seen them done in just pearl so that you only see them if you're looking at the right angle. Pretty badass when done right.

The flames look very cool, just not on my car. It's a daily driver and they wouldn't look good for that long. I called about ordering SOM today and it's $264.85 per gallon. One gallon of that and a gallon of clear and some time off and this will be ready.

shame you've gotten sick of black. with the tinted windows and everything your car looks real good the way it is, and i dont even like 4th gens. i guess id go with the sunset orange metallic though. should look nice

on the up side though, i have to say it is the most realistic flame - fire look i have seen

Probably don't want to hear this but If you don't have anything wrong with the paint right now, like a mismatching fender or some rust spots that need to be sanded, you should save your money and work on making the black look better. If it needs a touch up, that's cheaper than a new color.

Dont like those flames on that Firebird.. they just look weird as hell..

to change the color (good job) cost 5-7k and believe it or not, black is the best!

also, with 5k you can put a supercharger in it!

He has connections with the paint shop, so money isnt the problem but the color is.. I still say keep it black because it looks nice as hell at night, I know black is a bitch to keep clean because I wash my Monte everytime it gets dirty (Usually 2-4 days if it sits under the car port, amazing huh?)

speakin of flames, has anybody ever seen the overhaulin where that dude does the flames to the magnum? my jaw drops everytime i see that one.

Black is way too hard to keep nice as a daily driver. I put 30k miles a year on my car and black just isn't a color for that. My paint is about average for 8 years old so I dunno....Like Rally said, my family owns a body shop so the labor and materials are free, the only thing I have to buy is paint. I guess if I hate it I can go back to black later haha.

EDIT: A professional paint job will cost me ~$350 total, well short of a supercharger unfortunately.

Black is def. out for daily drivers. My parents have to wash their black corvette every day inorder to keep it looking clean (mostly because the cat likes to sleep on it). Plus black is way to common, half the camaros I see are black or silver. Sunset Orange looks really nice, and you hardly ever see a car that color.

Stepho... you could always do your parents' Vette a favor and kill their cat.

I tried to run it over, but it moved and I hit a tree...
