Bmw M3 Cabriolet (E46) vs. Porsche 911 Carrera CabrioletLotusGT1 02-13-2001, 07:05 AM Both cars have around 320Hp, both cars represent the pinnacle of german engineering. What would be your pick ? pontiac_ws6 02-13-2001, 03:59 PM Does that include the Carrera GT? If so I'll take that. If not, then I'll take the 911. ThunderFish911 02-13-2001, 04:07 PM Porsche. Like I've said before, the BMW is too boxy. LotusGT1 02-14-2001, 04:51 AM Originally posted by pontiac_ws6 Does that include the Carrera GT? If so I'll take that. If not, then I'll take the 911. Since the comparison is between the M3 and the 911, I don't see any reason to include the Carrera GT, which is in a different league anyway... Wow, the more I read this forum, the more 12 yr olds I find ... Gordon 02-15-2001, 04:10 PM 911 Carrera Cabriolet any day Porsche 02-15-2001, 04:43 PM Now, Now. As stated at CF i'd take the Porsche because of it's looks and cool wing. Excuse the 12 year-old question but does that include the Carrera 4? KennyH 02-15-2001, 04:56 PM lol... I would take the m3 any day- the more i read about it, the more amazed i get gang$tarr 02-16-2001, 11:49 AM Well this is tough comparo for me..... The M3 is way faster (isn't it?), but the Porsche looks so beautiful..... I don't know what to do! :) I'd probably take the carrera though just because it's a PORSCHE a true sportscar company (up until the damn cayenne) LotusGT1 02-16-2001, 03:41 PM The Porsche is slightly faster... gang$tarr 02-16-2001, 09:28 PM I thought the M3 goes 0-60 in like 4.8 sec and the carrera goes 0-60 in like 5.something JD@af 02-23-2001, 02:43 AM I actually have to carefully think about this one. Here's my list of pluses for each car: BMW -Higher redline (I love high redlines) -Newer design -More spacious interior -Save a few bucks over the Porsche Porsche -Rear-engined handling dynamics -Porsche exclusivity (hey the Cayenne isn't on the market yet!) I'd really have to get a chance to drive both, one after the other, to really get a sense of which I would prefer to take home. Although even though I was able to think of more positives on the BMW side.. I still think off-hand I'd take the Porsche. enzo@af 02-23-2001, 08:14 PM I take the E46 M3...I'd even take an E36. This isn't too much of a tough call for me...I really just don't find Porsche's appealing. I respect their performance, but I just don't find them attractive in looks, or anything really. The M3 is incredible! Every time I read something about it I just get more and more impressed. I hear it has some understeer, but that's tolerable. Seb928S@af 02-25-2001, 08:54 PM I take the Porsche 996 Carrera any day but I hate all Cabriolets. The I like the sound of the M3 engine makes but the Porsches Flat 6 sounds so much better. :) igor@af 02-25-2001, 09:43 PM I don't like Cabriolets either.. It's not sporty :D I like the roof to be there at all times :p So, I would like the M3 Coupe, its not only cheaper, but better. VTEC V6 03-24-2001, 06:29 PM the m3 does 0-60 in the high 4's which is damn fast i dont think the porsche is that fast unless u got with the turbo Shaitan 05-29-2002, 02:49 PM m3 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
