What muffler adds the most HP?integra2k1 08-01-2002, 04:32 AM :smoka: I just bought a used 2001 acura integra and have a niiice body kit and enkei 17.7" rims. I am looking to up my HP as much as possible. No price limit or nothing, just what muffler flat out gives you the most HP??????:bandit: TerminalVelocity 08-01-2002, 07:01 AM no muffler would give you the best hp, but you'd loose torque, making you further worthless on the street. Dynomax makes good mufflers, and has a line of mufflers for imports. They have little restriction, and keep your torque pretty high, also they arnt expensice, naimly because they arnt that cheep as hell chrome fart can you usually see on cars, made purly for looks and sound, not for performance. TatII 08-01-2002, 11:20 PM i would suggest apex i N1 duels but they don't make any for your car. only for my car and the rx-7 lolz. well i think greddy makes pretty nice pipes. TerminalVelocity 08-02-2002, 12:43 AM or get a custom exaust, and just pay for the mufflers Marc-OS 08-02-2002, 12:49 AM Yeah, the thing that really increases the HP is the fact that you are increasing the diameter of the pipe, but there is a limit. Usually, 2.25" tubing with mandrel bends is good for a non forced induction car. So just make sure the piping is 2.25-2.5" wide, and just about any aftermarket muffler will be fine. Although the real question is which muffler is the quietest. You get a loud muffler, and its more than likely John Law is gonna pull you over and hand you a ticket. Bryan8412 08-02-2002, 12:54 AM mufflers don't add horsepower. I believe you're referring to "preformance mufflers" which take away less horsepower than normal mufflers do. I believe you're referring to "preformance mufflers" which take away less horsepower than normal mufflers do. Hehe, great explanation. In addition, just a muffler isn't going to help you much. You might see about 5HP or so out of a good cat back exhaust. If you want to get the most out of your exhaust you need to replace the entire thing from the engine on back including your intake. It is spendy, but you won't see crap out of just a muffler, that is more for looks and sound. Cbass 08-02-2002, 03:44 AM Okay, you've gone and done the usual rice mods, body kit and wheels. Now you are looking for a muffler. This is where you must distance yourself from the horrid thing called rice. Get a turbo kit. They grow on trees! The only way you will see more power out of it is by either putting in a new engine, or turbocharging the one you have now. This is not something to be taken on lightly, but it is the only way. Skypatcorbin 08-02-2002, 10:43 PM which sticker adds the most hp??? -The Stig- 08-02-2002, 11:23 PM  Red ones do... We learned that in Rice 101... Duh!?! TatII 08-03-2002, 12:32 AM well you don't always need a turbo even though that is the most effective way to gain power. i'm goin to try to build up my KA until got enough money for a SR. i was thinkin of a JET chip and some jim wolf cam shafts. R1-rider 08-03-2002, 12:45 AM hey tat, bear with me for a second. Your motor now is a KA24DE right? the SR20DET is basically the silvia engine correct (165/270)? Is the RB26DETT not able to fit or match correctly? I think the RB would be insane to have in a 240sx, not many people would be expecting that. Plus if you keep the stock look, you are gonna be a hell of a sleeper. Eitherway the SR is a great motor, seen a few pushing 600hp. Just bringing up a point i'm sure you have considered. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
