Headlights don't work need help

Hi,

I have a 93 tunderbird that I just aquired, and the headlights don't work. I went to autozone, replaced the headlight switch, and they are still out. The marker lights work, and the high beams work.

Also the headlight fuse in the engine bay is ok too.

What else should i check?

thanks.

Casey

Did you check the headlights themselves? It is possible that both of them are burnt out.
Did you check to see if you are getting power to the plugs that connect to the headlights? If no, then check the connections to the multifunction switch on the steering column.
Did you replace the headlight switch because you guessed or did you test the switch? Do you have a wiring diagram? If not, www.autozone.com may have one for your car in their free repair guide section. Use a test light or meter and test the appropriate components.

It's most likely the multi-function switch (blinkers, wipers, hazards switch). They are prone to going bad. On my 96 my blinkers would only work 50% of the time, and on my 93 I had the same problem as you. High beams worked and so did the turn signals, but no headlights.

Check out this link to see if your Bird is covered by the recall:

I had what sounds like the same problem (as did many others here), but my local dealership took care of the problem for me - for free. Good luck, either way.
