Someone help me. I am trying to replace my axle (Left) and I'm trying to remove the ball joint from the lower control arm but I can not seem to get it out.

Can someone explain to me exactly what parts actually separate from each other. I was tryingt to use a lever type ball joint remover but the pressure screw on the back is not long enough. Can I just use a hammer?

I have a 95 GSR

Are you trying to get the ball joint itself out of the axle housing, or seperate it from the control arm. I just replace mine on a honda civic, the easiest way is to remove the lower ball joint castle nut, upper ball joint castle nut, axle nut and brake caliper, then the whole housing should come off. The ball joint on my civic was held i place with a snap ring, then i used a press to press the old one out and put the new one in. I wouldn't use a hammer, you run the risk of damaging the housing.

specialty tools needed: ball joint seperator, cheap fork type will work fine, and a ball joint press.

Hope this helps
