I was wondering if anyone knew ANY estimate on how much it would cost to bring a 94' Thunderbird LX to a shop to have them fix the frame so they could put a new door and fender on as well as put in a new right bulb? Anyone living in Springfield, Oregon know any good places?

I have a tan colored T-bird and was looking to fix it up. My dad says it would cost more than the car is worth(Around $1500) And he also was saying that My boyfriend and I couldn't put the door and fender on ourselves for the whole frame issue. So I was just wondering if anyone has had this sort of problem and had it fixed.
Thanks!

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you should probably just take it to some body shops and get some estimates.

I don't think it would be possible for anyone here to give you an estimate without seeing it (up close) for ourselves.

*Sorry*

Wow, your post sounds like something I would have written. My tan 95 Lx got t-boned last fall and I have been trying to fix it up myself. It has almost 160K miles on it and really isn't worth anything (with the price of gas these days no one wants to buy a V8).

Anyway, I finally got around to taking it to the frame shop, and the frame itself isn't bent at all (only around the door). It was pulling really badly because the wheel was hit, but $85 later for an alignment and it goes straight again.

I went to a wrecking yard near Seattle and bought a door and fender for around $250. I looked all over for a brown one, but ended up with black since it is the same year and the exact trim, etc. I changed it all out myself (with a little help from my ex boyfriend since the door is really heavy). Not too bad for a girl from the hood. The door frame by the hinge is bent but another friend of mine has a hydralic frame jack and we have been pushing it out from the inside. Its not perfect yet but we are working on it. Then I have to decide whether or not I need to paint it.

Yeah, I realize this is rather "backyard mechanic-ish" but I just want the car usable so I can drive it to Mexico this summer. I would say so far I have spent about $400 on fixing the damage caused by the wreck. To me, it is worth the money, but if I had had to take it to a body shop it would not have been worth spending $1500 - $2000 to get it fixed. Also, the door took a long time to change. If you get the door from the wrecking yard ask them not to cut all the wires. That will save you some time since you won't have to change the wiring harness.

If you have more questions, I would be more than happy to help you out. PM me please. I haven't found this forum to be very helpful though...:shakehead
