Codes, codes, codes....

Car gave me 3 codes when I drove it fast:
1/3
P0102
MAF or VAF A circuit low input

2/3
P0113
IAT Sensor 1 Circuit high input

and

3/3
P0113 pd
IAT Sensor 1 ciruit input

Erased the codes, drove again, 2 codes came back:

2/3
P0113 pd
IAT Sensor 1 Circuit high input

and

3/3
P0113
IAT Sensor 1 ciruit input

(I have no idea what "little letters "p d" mean next to the error code. THis wasnt in the database.

But second time, pd came up in Actron scanner first.)

Any mods to this engine? also make sure the temp sensor in the intake duct is hooked up.

i dont know about the pd after the code but the manuel or online manuel shoud telll you. my guess is that they are pending codes not stored codes. they are intermitent problems not all the time. (only when wot?)
1. either your IAT sensor (intake air temp) is unpluged (from changing the air filter or gutting the box.) or it had been damaged/dirty. you can remove the sensor and see if its broke or something.if you clean it just be careful not to use anything harsh on it or anything with lubricant.(electrical cleaner is good)
2. is your car overheating at all?
3. any symptoms, like sluggish car. it could be your MAF going out but there are different codes for that and usualy the car really acts up. if you want to rule that out then find a good one from a junk yard,plug it in and see if the codes come back. (a new MAF if ~$99)

I got it.. it was indeed the sensor on air intake filter container.

However, there was no noticeable performance change during the time I had the sensor disconnected.

as far as i know that sensor doesnt command the pcm to change any air/fuel trims, it just keeps the IAT monitored so you dont overheat. it may help the pcm pull/add timing to compensat for colder/hotter air. that my not feel noticable but your engine will last longer with it attached ;)

IAT has nothing to do with overheating, colder air is denser and will require a little more fuel and slight adjustment to the spark map. The PCM uses it for just that purpose. Without it the PCM will default to the o2 sensor for adjustments to fuel and in theory stick with a predetermined spark map. You probably won't feel much of a difference if it's fixed quickly but try unplugging one in the summer and go driving in the winter.
