Advice on modding out my hbj's88honda 05-30-2006, 10:19 PM I've got a stock 88' civic hatch and i would love to make it fast i was just wondering witch would be better modding out the stock motor or saving for a swap? I came here to see if i could get a few different views on wich way to modify it. The stock motor has 100,000 miles and runs fine. I was thinking about modding the stock motor but i want to get the best bang for my buck especially when money is a little tight. Iwould appreciate any help. superbluecivicsi 05-30-2006, 11:13 PM search. big tex84 05-31-2006, 11:50 AM In my opinion save for the swap might take some time, but will be well worth it, I suggest the SiR 1 b16, simple swap, not alot of extra stuff to do, good power stock, awsome power modded. just take your time and do it right with whatever you plan on doing, cheaper to do it right the first time than to go back and do it again, less headache too. j's88honda 05-31-2006, 12:47 PM alright thanks man:grinyes: i guess im gonna start saving for a swap i did some searching and it sounds like the best choice for me. thnx big tex hxgaser 05-31-2006, 08:27 PM Set a goal first and search as superbluecivicsi says. Are you talking 150hp? 200hp? 400hp? Of course there are slew of stuff that you need to consider as hp rating goes up, which translates into $$. b16 is good but are you willing to spend $1500 or so on a swap? Your whole car probably costs less than that. How about going and picking up a better base car for about the same price? 5th gens are cheap and already comes with B16. Anyways, I would set a goal which you can reasonably accomplish with your available resources. j's88honda 05-31-2006, 09:40 PM I would like to push out about 175hp but it seems the only way to make that number is a swap. And I looked for a later model civic but cant find one for cheap enough. is it possible to put 175hp on my stock motor? I've heard that my motor is nothing:uhoh:. I probably should have put the power i was looking for in my first post. But i would like to know how much power could i put out on my stock motor. I came here to get the best advice i could i hope someone could help me. big tex84 06-01-2006, 07:08 AM Set a goal first and search as superbluecivicsi says. Are you talking 150hp? 200hp? 400hp?
