93 supreme possible AC leak, other issuesXGamesJ6 05-28-2006, 10:16 PM ok, so i have a 1993 olds cutlass supreme SL, with the v6 3.1 L, and the AC worked last summer, not this summer so i tried to charge it, but wouldnt click on, so i took a wire, ran it from the compressor, and connected it straight to the battery, it made the compressor worked, so i started to try and charge the system with it running, and it took the charge, and the compressor click on and off on its own, without that wire, but it didnt get really cold in the car, it cooled down, but it took a long time, so i assumed it needed more refrigerant, well i check it out again, before i even got another can, and it wont click on now, i think it has a leak, i kept hearing a hissing sound in the car, it was probably leaking out from the evaporator core, any idea on how to get to it, or how to check where the leak is, the fluid i put in had a red dye to spot leaks, or so it says, i just need to get to that core... thanks for any help possible and sorry for the long post! Slade901 05-30-2006, 11:42 AM You need to purchase a leak detector kit with some flourescent dye that you inject in the ac system and then use the goggle that come with it and you can see where the leak is coming from. BTW, when you charge your AC, you need to set the AC to MAX and fan to HIGH as well. You might need to use a AC Gauge to accurately see the charge and it would be easier to re-charge it. Just make sure also that your ac charge port schader valve is not stuck down and it will leak out the charge and make sure that the shhader valve cap is tight. XGamesJ6 05-30-2006, 07:08 PM i'll check out the dye thing, the valve is fine, and the cap was on nice and tight, and i did have it on MAX with the fan on HIGH just whenever we had it charging, or running for that matter, i always heard the hissing in the car, sounded like it was probably from the evap. i just gotta get to it somehow vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
