hello people, i just blew my motor, it was a b7/y8 mini me, with a small 16g with 7.5psi boost. it had 152,000miles on it, with jsut a base map. it lasted all year and i was pretty happy with it, until i took it to the track and blew it up on my 5th run.
Anywho, I just ordered a d15b longblock form hmotorsonline.com and im looking for a camshaft that will spice up vtec a bit. when i put the y8 vtec head on, i wasnt very impressed, i really couldnt tell any difference, mabie 10whp at the most.
i hear most peaople like the zex cam for sohc, any info on wich camshaft i should get given my setup would be appretiated.

I want to keep this set up cheap simple, so the motor will stay stock. other than a 255walbro fuel pump. and a camshaft.
This time i will dyno tune it, also will be using Neptune EMS.

Also alot of ppl are making 230whp on a stock sohc. how is this possible? my friend has a d16y8 with a 14b and blew his hg on 10psi, then got arp head studs and warped the head on 12psi. wich could only be making mabe 210whp max.

Your right it did pretty much die, but people were getting those numbers from their tune, a good tune = good numbers and reliability, good decent parts also help.

You can't always throw a junkyard setup together and hope for the best numbers, im sure it's possible but you get what you pay for.
