need help finding my tire size..please..benieo 05-24-2006, 02:54 PM i know this is the wrong section to post this, but i really need some quick advice. i been trying to find some, new/used tire to replace my front two. the wheels i currently have on my 95 civic sizes are. p185/60/r14..i cant seem to find any that matches it. i found a size p185/ 70/ r14. will this tire size be replaceable??the numbers are different but will it work? also, i checked my owners manual and it says my tire should be sizes, p175/65 r14..can i go look for that size tire and replace it? even though my current ones dont match what it says on the manual..im thinking of changing it with the size p185/70..will there be any problems?? Tofuboy 05-24-2006, 04:16 PM If your owner's manual says the original size tire is p175/65 r14 then you should stay with pXXX/65 r14. Since the 65 tire sidewall profile and 14 inch rim diameter will maintain your overall wheel diameter, this way your speedometer will remain showing you the true mph. on the pXXX part, it just means how wide your tires are going to be. If you want more traction than you can go with the higher number. Pavlo 05-30-2006, 11:20 AM No you are actually wrong. pxxx/xxr14. Then you need to figure out the correct proportions. the tire width is in MM, tire height is in % relative to the width. So if you have p195/65/r14 tire width the height will be 126.75, if you have 185/65/R14 then the height is 120.25mm and if you run 175 your height will be 113.65 mm. So if the original size is 185/65/R14, and you want some 195mm tires, you need to get 195/61.7/R14, but such tire doesn't exist so 195/60/R14 would keep you speedo the most accurate if you want to run 195mm tires when your stockers should be 185/65/R14. Tire reading is a pain in the ass, very stupid how width is in MM, height in % and diameter in inches. Took me a while to get all this. nitebeest 05-30-2006, 12:47 PM I'm runnin 185/65/14's on my 98 civic ex and my friend is runnin 190/60/14's. Really doesn't matter to much. It'll affect the speedo a little but other than that if it'll fit on your rim then your set. hany 05-30-2006, 01:00 PM there are easy way to know if that tire will be sutable or no. without search in numbers. look. put the new tire you need to install beside and closed to the stoke tire and put your hand on the top of them if you notice high and low that mean the new tire will not be sutable but if you dont notice any high and low that mean this new tire is ok . i hope you get what i say nitebeest 05-30-2006, 06:08 PM Or the easiest way would just to call a tire shop around you and ask them what will fit on a stock honda rim. They'll shoot off a couple of numbers for you and you'll be set. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
