My Mini GT isn't starting (Hello BTW!)BirdGoBOOM 05-23-2006, 03:51 PM Hello, my name is Joshua and I am new to this forum. The reason I joined was because you all seem to have a pretty good knowledge of Minis and I thought you could help me out. My 1976 Mini 1275GT isn't starting. I was working on the interior yesterday and I decided to start the car to let it run because I do not use it to drive around town yet. But then all of a sudden, the car just turned off. It didn't putt-out or anything, its as if someone simply turned off the car. I checked the sparkplugs and they don't seem to be sparking. The distribut cables all seem to be plugged in and all, but I have no idea what else it could be. Can anyone help me please??? :frown: BirdGoBOOM 05-23-2006, 11:26 PM Whoops! It turns it out was my fuse. It was burnt out in a spot that was difficult to see :p . Anywho, does anyone else here have a 1275GT? midwestminis 07-11-2006, 09:18 PM I imported my old '79 1275GT from NZ to the Midwest recently. It gets lots of looks driving around town and is quick of the line (a great thumbs up to being a little dwarfed by the many SUVs on the road). The roads around here could do with some repair!!! inim 01-18-2007, 02:32 PM Hello, my name is Joshua and I am new to this forum. Check there is a spark from a plug by taking 1 out , place it on the engine or somewhere where it can earth and give it a wirr over. If you get a healthy spark it is not that. Wirr the engine over with the choke out and see if you can smell petrol from the exhaust. if you can it,s not that. Which ever it is you will need to look further. In general your Mini may be out of tune and it could be in more ways than 1, ignition timing mixture etc. Most people don’t think about having their car tuned. The only way to do this is to take your Mini to a rolling road. This is expensive by the hour but you should only need 1 hour to properly set the car up. Before you do this you need to make sure that the car is fully serviced and replace all things electrical such as plugs, points, leads, rotor arm, distributor cap and filters etc. A source of good value parts is www.ukclassicminiparts.com (http://www.ukclassicminiparts.com/) This will be the best money you will ever spend on your Mini and you could get 20-30% more power. This happened to me. M_Mullins 11-14-2007, 01:38 PM Whoops! It turns it out was my fuse. It was burnt out in a spot that was difficult to see :p .
