won't start 1969 05-21-2006, 01:56 PM
i have a 2001 s-10 with 4.3 that acts like it is in gear when you turn the key to start it . after messing with it a while it starts like nothing is wrong . would it be a sensor like a heat sensor saying its to hot or oil sensor thinking there is not enough oil or what. busa4 05-21-2006, 04:45 PM alarm???? could be a starter disable problem with your alarm. what are you doing to it when you say "messing with it"? 1969 05-21-2006, 08:40 PM by leaving the door ajar and turning the key off and on. i can cross the starter over the selinoid and it rolls over. what do you mean by alarm :banghead: busa4 05-21-2006, 09:04 PM do u have an alarm? is it a manual or auto trans? 1969 05-22-2006, 09:32 AM its an auto trans. no codes come upwhen its put on my computer reader. busa4 05-22-2006, 11:32 AM make sure your park switch is adjusted correctly. the next time this happens give your gear selector a good tap into park to make sure it hit the park switch. also try starting it in nuetral when it happens and see if there is a change. 1969 05-23-2006, 08:41 AM I tried puling it out of park and putting it back in. I also tried it in neutral nothing seems to work. thats why I thought it mite be a sensor of some kind. otherwise it must be the Ignition switch. And messing with the airbag is something I don't want to tackle. busa4 05-23-2006, 10:24 AM i would have to say a possible ignition switch failure if you dont have an alarm with a starter disable function. 1969 05-23-2006, 12:31 PM thank you for your help:) 1969 01-11-2007, 11:10 AM turned out to starter who knew Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
