dont accelerate too fast and you should be fine. as long as your on the high way or just cruseing your ok. just dont floor it on the on ramps ;)

ok, the plugs and the t-stat are basically to keep the engine from getting to hot and causeing knock correct? with my bigger and thicker radiator it helps alot and keeps engine temps down because it holds alot more fluid then stock.

DO NOT USE STOCK PLUGS!!! if you add boost you must take heat out of the cylander by getting a cooler plug its recomended that you go at least 2 colder and copper plugs work well in our cars. the 3.4 pulley is worth about 25 crank hp with the right supporting mods to keep KR in check.

what if my engine is NA, series II... would it make sense to also keep the cylinders cooler by using some good spark plugs and having an upgraded t-stat? Or would it make the performance even worse?

My cars engine is not modded.

if your engine is naturaly aspirated then you cant add boost b/c there is no boost from the s/c to start with :). you can upgrade to a cooler t-stat (180*) and your engine will last longer but you wont see a noticable power increase. for the N/A engines its recomended to use platnium or iridium plugs that are stock heat range. you could go 1 range colder if you wanted but again, you wont see a power increase. for the N/A series 2 your best power increase will be from a FWI and exhaust mods. thats about all you can do w/o going in-depth. sorry

Thank you for the explanation.
I am not worried about power/boost increase as much as I want my motor to last longer. 180 t-stat will be installed in my car soon then.

Appreciate the help./

general maintinance is the key to a long lasting car. even keeping the car/engine clean will help. you've likely already read this ( http://www.regalgs.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26380&sid=b2f8d743cc8c0a665ef72a4cce1d3b7c ) but it tell some of the more expensive mods for the L67 engine. i dont know much about your engine or how your air box is setup but you can start with a clean paper/cloth filter and gutting the box it sits in. then clean the throttle body and intake with some sea foam or carb cleaner.

its alway nice to see someone who wants to keep their riviera in top shape and running great. if you (or anyone else) has any more questions about car maint. or cleaning just ask....there are plenty of tricks to making an old car look new.
