So i went to the dealership a while back, as my power windows were messing up. They told me the motor needed to be replaced for like 1000. I dont have that kind of money right now, so i thought i would do some investigating. I took off my panel, and got my hands on the motor. The motor works fine, it turns whenever the driver's or personal switch is used. The original problem is that once i push the down switch the window will start to go down but at an irregular and non constant speed. It will also not roll back up either when i try to do so. I am thinking it has something to do with the wire and maybe it some how fell off. Any suggestions? I would like to take off the rest of the door so that i can see, as right now all i am doing is reaching and feeling. Again, any suggestions on that? Thanks!!

Jim

There is a built in thermal limiting switch on the motor itself that could be causing your issue. Also check the window track for debris and the regulator mechanism for worn or binding parts.

I bought my passenger-side power window motor assembly at ebay for like $35+$15 s/h. UPS was extremely slow and it took a full week to ship from AZ to MA.

Anyway while waiting, I followed the instruction on http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Grand-Prix-Window-Motor/index.html and played with my old window motor and a multi-meter. All a sudden window roll up and down normally. I just put the door panel back and no problem. My new window motor assembly is my spare should I ever need it next time.

Go get your own winodw motor/regulator for under $50 at Ebay. The link above is very simple to follow.
