95 cavalier igintion lost key

I have a 95 cavalier lost the keys and I want to romove the key cylinder I have one i took out of a 96 buick that the dealer said would work but is there any way to get this thing out short of using a hammer? the only way to get it out I know of you have to have the key in the on position no key no luck. any advice would be appreciated

You could always get a key made at a dealer if you give them a VIN...

The stering column has been replaced before I bought it I have alredy been that route wasted 40 bucks

screw driver and a hammer my friend. Worked for me in my Saturn (then 5mins later I found the key, DOH!).

That is what I feel like doing but I don't want to damage the sarounding plastic that it slips into

Get a locksmith to cut you a key. They will come out to you and file a key (an amazing and very long process), then cut an actual one. I have had that done when my wife lost the key to her Neon (found them the next day!) I have no luck with keys.
