00 Grand Prix// Low Coolant Light

The Low Coolant light will not go off in my car.. It has plenty of antifreeze in it ..The car is not running hot or overheating ..Can anyone help me out with this..:uhoh:

The coolant light is controlled by a level sensor located about 3 inches below the radiator filler neck on the right side (passenger) of the radiator. As long as there are no cooling system problems or air in the system it could be the cause and is a common problem. See pic below:

BTW - Also when checking coolant level check it in the radiator and not at the reservoir tank. With engine cold just remove the radiator cap and check level. It should be at the top of the filler neck.

I agree with Bob. The little metal pin gets mucked up with sludge and will cause a low coolant light to trip. If it's not clogged with sludge, then the sensor is most likely bad if the coolant level checks out (in the radiator) like Bob suggested.
