I assume you mean power braking. Other than taking mileage off of your tires may I ask why you want to. The true sign of power is when you are sitting at the finish line with your hand out collecting your winnings. Power braking is nothing more than showing people you lose traction. If you are hellbent on doing it you will need to put in a line lock for a guarantee. The E brake most times will not hold you in place. Even with a line lock there is the possibility of dragging the rear end of the car. The weight distribution with a FWD is that all the weight is on the drive wheels up front with gives more traction to them which in turn makes it harder to break traction. The better the tire the less traction loss you will have making it even more difficult to power brake. My RWD mustang will only do it when I have the line lock on. But it is very very heavily modified so that it won't. I feel that a wheel stand is much more impressive than some smoke from a tire. You will not gain any traction by heating them up with a burnout, excessive wheel spin will heat them up till you stop. The grooves and design of them is that they immediately begin to cool off and harden, some will argue that it makes it even worse for traction because they will sometimes harden beyond what they were before the burnout. Anyway sorry for the rambling but like I said, if you must then put a line lock back to your rear brakes.
Oh and please don't get me started on those ungodly big rear wings some people put on their FWD cars.:banghead:

What could happen if u did one these for a long time. I heard someone saying that his friend blew a bearing or something in his engine cause he got stuck in snow or mud. I would like to do this too cause im getting new tires on my car and i want to smoke the old ones off.

To be honest this whole deal sounds childish.

well the title doesnt fit the thread but i power brake in my car w/out a linelock i get minimal wheel drag
this is how i power break

make sure car completely in drive and not moving
apply ebrake all the way
do a power launch at like 2k
then gun it

i can get mine to spin them into 2nd gear on a rainy day its usually redline tho

and BTW werent you a kid once....

i do agree with you about "awesomely" big wings on a ricer there sweet:rofl:

i am a "ricer" persay but my defn of a ricer is a punk ass kid with a 1999 honda civic with a fartcan muffler and a 18" wing and a car that mommy paid for...

what i want is a 1995 nissan 240sx with a RB26DETT engine sleeper with a
S15 conversion no body kit and no spoiler or what id like to call is a "350RWHP V8 killer"

Sure it's childish but sometimes ya gotta let off steam. (I still do not believe in doing it. I will always prefer the track.)
Doing a power brake is no more worse for the engine than any other type of driving at high rpms. If you do it for an extreme length of time at very high rpms you can spin a bearing. You are more apt to have a failure of a hub bearing, cv axle, and most definately a flat tire. If you are doing it at the drag strip to warm up the tire, I would suggest investing in a set of drag slicks. The money you would burn replacing the street tires would more than buy a set.
If you are doing it on the street, it is really a useless endeavor. Concentrate on improving the traction of the car.
