mirror questiontykrz 05-13-2006, 02:48 AM My trucks (2005 model) got the black outside mirrors. I see some previous model trucks around with chrome mirrors on black and some trucks with painted mirroes on black. My question is, Is this an insert that you can install yourself or do you have to buy the whole mirror? horse482 05-13-2006, 12:04 PM I have seen an aftermaket company that sales the chrome mirror covers. Sorry their name has slipped my mind. guumbah 05-15-2006, 11:51 AM There's also frequent listings for these on ebay, both chrome and paintable. My truck actually has the stock chrome, but I've never looked at how it's attached... 01silverado03z400 05-15-2006, 05:02 PM My truck came with the chrome mirror covers and im pretty sure that they are just stuck on with 3m tape just like everything else on my truck. The company that makes the chrome covers is Putco. Rammer500 05-15-2006, 06:07 PM If you have the black mirror caps, then yes you can change them. They are held on by douldle sided tape and clips molded onto the caps themselves. Gm sells kits to replace these. These kits includes both caps and instructions for installation. Mirror Caps: GM part numbers Silver- 59U - 17800656 White- 50U - 17800657 Sport Red- 63U - 17800658 Victory Red- 74U - 17802411 Chrome - 17800659 jethro_3 05-16-2006, 11:46 AM Be careful since some of the mirrors are one piece. GM will only seel mirrors as a whole unit. Look behind the glass and see if there are tabs that look like the end is wider. There should be one by each corner if the caps come off. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
