95 Plymouth Voyager just stops runningrprp51 05-12-2006, 05:57 PM Hello, I have a 95 Plymouth Voyage SE V6. It has developed a problem that I have not been able to get fixed, because it never has the problem when I take it in for service. The problem is, it just stops. I can start the van normally and then drive away and at some time (not all of the time) the engine will just stop running (hot or cold). I can start it again straight away without any problem and if you keep your foot on the gas it will keep running. It does not shudder and stop slowly, it just stops running. It can happen at low speed or higher speeds, at low speeds you usually have to pull over to the curb (just drift and steer over without any power steering) and restart. At higher speeds it is possible to slip it into neutral and restart and keep going. The problem is becoming more frequent, but still not enough for a mechanic to see. In fact this time, it stalled twice on the way over to the mechanic, but has been fine for the last few days that they have had it there. Any thoughts? Thanks for your assistance. GTP Dad 05-13-2006, 11:24 AM Welcome to AF!! Change the crank position sensor. Stalling for no reason hot or cold is a classic sign of pending cps failure especially since it will restart. They most generally don't throw a code until they completely fail. rprp51 05-13-2006, 03:48 PM Welcome to AF!! Change the crank position sensor. Thanks for the information, I will ask the mechanics to do that. coalminer 05-16-2006, 11:15 PM Hello, I have a 95 Plymouth Voyage SE V6. Is it a 3.0 or a 3.3? The 3.0 would not have a crank position sensor, but along the same line, would be the pick up coil under the distributor cap, which I just checked on Autozone's website and to my surprise is $81, more than what I thought it would be. Another thing that I have seen on a Caravan is a short in the ignition switch, I bought a 92 for parts and the person who I bought it from said it would do that, just die at random and they could never figure it out, I tracked it down to the Ignition switch and it never did it again. That switch is $26 at Autozone. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
