94 T&C AWD fuel pump/sending unit rebuildsur4die 05-12-2006, 02:56 PM i have a 94 T&C 3.8L AWD in which the fuel pump has finally let go. i have purchased the hella fuel pump and Sending Unit (SU) rebuild kit but have yet to get the old SU out of the fuel tank. i pulled up the carpet looking for an access pannel to get at the SU, but there was none to be found. did i just not look in the right place, or do i have to drop the tank to get at the SU? can anybody offer some advice on what the most effective method is for dropping the fuel tank? thanks KManiac 05-12-2006, 03:25 PM I may of help here since I replaced the fuel pump and sender unit in my wife's old 1989 Caravan several years ago. I'm sorry to say that there is no access hatch in the floor. You have to drop the tank. This requires unbolting the retaining straps, removing the fuel lines and electrical connections, the sliding the filler neck out of the tank as you drop it. Hopefully your tank is near empty. If not, there should be a metal fuel line protruding from one side of the tank with a cap on the end. This is a siphon tube used to drain the tank for service procedures like this. The fuel pump is a separate assembly from the sender unit, unless they changed this between 1989 and 1994. Good luck with the project and let us know what you find. sur4die 05-13-2006, 12:08 PM thanks for confirming my assumptions. i hope that i can get to it today, i'll post back with some details and hopefully my photographer will be available to snap a few shots. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
