in this im not asking you to pick my car out for me. just tell me which one u like and why. also list the cons of them. this would really help me out. btw, this car would be considered my daily driver/racing car and raising gas prices isn't really my favorite thing. The car i will purchase will be in manual, and maintiance is no problem to me. (i wash my car every week and check fluids every night) i guess all im asking for is the pros and cons.

'93 Honda Prelude Si (driven)
'95 Acura Integra GSR/LS (driven)
'97 Chevy Cavilaer Z24(with the 2.4) (driven)
'95 Audi A4 1.8T (drove the 2.8 v6)
'00 Mercury Cougar v6 (drove the auto one)
'99 Saab 93 Se Turbo (never been in)

Get the GSR. Can you really compare a GSR with a Cavalier?

i'm with him, can you really compare a GSR to a cavalier??

oh and my vote falls under

92-95 Civic EX/SI w/ a d16z6 and a stock 1g eclipse turbo setup at 10lbs or so. If you shed some pounds off of it, you'll see some nice low 13's for the cost of almost any of those cars.

Also coming from my prelude friends, they don't have nearly as much potential as the b-series and d-series honda's

K series FTW.

Don't really know any of those cars well besides the teg, so my post is useless:tongue:

I would check these forums, and see what people are saying about the year/model you have. Ive been doing that lately, and found out that a 1987-1993 toyota camera really isn't what i want to buy (as a for instance)

Non of the above.
get a 2002+ V-dub 1.8t, Ive always know they had loads of potential but seeing Gotian mod his has freaking blown my mind. Those things are nasty moddable......is that even a word?

'97 Chevy Cavilaer Z24(with the 2.4) (driven)
'95 Audi A4 1.8T (drove the 2.8 v6)
'00 Mercury Cougar v6 (drove the auto one)......None of those. The cavalier and Cougar are not fast as I have driven both. The Audi actually may not be that bad if you dont mind maitenance but I've heard they have expensive anreliability.

The Audi would probably be the nicest to drive and looks the best, but it won't be the fastest and they can be a pain to live with. I would get the Integra. They have most of the advantages of the A4 without the costly maintenance.

My thoughts exactly. My aunt + my gf's mom have had 4 A4s between the 2 of them. Maintaince is expensive (mostly because they never ask me to do it :screwy: ) and electrical reliability has been an occasional issue. GSR is definantly one of the better honda/acuras, and I have nothing bad to say about them.

I guess i have to be the first to say get the saab. My cousin has one and its a 00' so its the same body style i think. The interior is very nice and i think it does a 6.8 0-60 and a 15.2 quarter mile stock. Im sure you could run a boost controller and a few other small mods and have yourself a nice daily driver.:2cents:

gsr, is hard to come by around me. once its posted, within a week its gone...thats what happened to the first one i wanted. so i guess a 20hp less ls would do. i could always go more boost on ls when i decide too, but use 87 octane for the mean time...

the reason for the cavi was my cuz had one and it was fun and easy to drive. im sure that if i got it to shed a few pounds it would be a mid 15's car with pretty good gas milage. the cougar has the potential to do the same, but i heard it responds well to mods, so thats y it was in the picture.

also the rate of theft is the thing. people broke into my moms new corrolla within the 1st week we had it. found nothin but peter paul and mary cds....lol

elchinoco, i was thinking of somethin like that, but the parents hate modding cars like swapping engines. intake and exhaust is cool, but engines and tranny's make me get on their bad side so that is a no go. otherwise the sentra woulda had a sr20ve in it with a spec-v tranny and this thread wouldn't be created....

the saab was since it was turbo, and i know those are used in rally events all the time(different edition though..i think the turbo is all the difference basically) same for the audi. i loved how it handled and the interior. its only hard to find a 1.8T for about 8 grand. i actually enjoy changing the oil and cleaning up the engine. it makes me feel good when i drive it and it is running very strong again.

so it turns out that the cavi and cougar are out as well is the prelude.

that leaves
acura gsr/ls
saab se 93
audi 1.8T

all i would like now is the pros and cons on all of them. see what u can dig up. imma try and go test drive the saab this weekend since i dont have school on friday.

edit:fixed something....

Wait, you're not saying you'd turbo an LS Integra and still use 87 octane are you?

... Turbo = raising compression = needs higher octane.

Talon=Eclipse

Who the heck buys a car becuase it's pretty?

Oh, and read up on crankwalk. I don't care how anally you maintain the car, it can still happen.

i'm pretty sure that engine is stock in the SI/EX which is why i mentioned it, sohc vtec 1.6l engine. If you had the ability to swap, i woulda said, a CX civic w/ that motor in it.

There is a guy around here w/ a blue civic like that, and he is hanging w/ some modded SRT's while he's on his lower boost setting.
If you can turbo an integra, you can turbo a civic, and pos civic hatch is not likely to get broken into either.

just letting you think about that! that was going to be one of my options for my sleeper project, but i found a better alternative. :evillol:

also apparently crankwalk can happen to anyone w/o a 6 bolt, and even then it can happen in the rare chance. if you find an eclispe w/ the original motor in it at over 100k miles on the clock and it hasn't crankwalked, it isn't likely it will EVER!! so there are the few rare 7 bolt's that can make it

'99 Saab 93 Se Turbo (never been in)

93 honda prelude si- thats the 160 hp one? the only prelude i would get is the vtec one (190 hp with this gen) and there's too much honda on the road mang:grinyes: plus, they kinda heavy yo?

95 acura integra/ls - again, too much hondas on the road, i see these everywhere, and dont forget about my integra ls kills, i killed two of them with my slow car, but if you must get the teg, gsr would be a slight change from seeing all these ls on the roads, but me, i wouldn't get it :smokin:

97 cavalier-...i wouldn't get one :nono: jdm ftw! :grinyes:

95 audi a4- expensive! i remember my cuzzin telling me how expensive parts for his audi was! :disappoin

00 cougar- dunno, i just dont like it:disappoin

99 saab turbo- premium gas owns yooh ftw! turbo cars = harder to maintain yah?

why dont keep the nismo tradition yo? :frown: would be cool if ya got a sentra se-r, dunno about milwaukee, but here in western Wisconsin and the metro of Minnesota, we barely see any se-r around here:smokin: it also depends on what you're going to be doing after high school, are you planning to make this your daily driver for 5+ yrs (or however many yrs) or is this the car to only get you through high school? if you plan to move down to florida like you said, i'm sure the florida guys are tired of seeing hondas eh? ;) i got the car i did because its easy to maintain, great gas mileage, low on insurance, reliable, all i really wanted was a car to get me through college with minimal costs to maintain it, and planning to buy a better car when i graduate, you gotta think about the future man, is the car gonna cost more to maintain it than what its worth? are you gonna be eating ramen noodles because all your money was spent to maintain the car? etc, but if you're one of these rich folks which loaded parents who dont mind giving you $, then you'd probably be better off down paying a brand new car, or an already fast car from the factory
