91 grand prix - roaring noise while driving

Hi all, I need help figuring out what is making a roaring noise on my wifes car. The sound is very similar to what a large 4 wheel drive truck sounds like that has aggressive tire tread on it going down the highway. Im sure its not the tires because we just put new ones all the way around and the sound hasnt changed compared to when the old tires were on it. It makes this noise at all speeds but it seems to lessen if i take a left turn although still noticeable. The pitch of the noise also changes with speed and the harmonics inside the car are very loud at interstate speeds.

that's a tough one to diagnose, but I would start by checking hub/bearing assemblies. W-body GM's are known for wheel bearings. You can simply jack up the front of the car, check for play in the bearing by trying to move the wheel from top to bottom. If it's nice and snug then try the other side. Another option is simply a bad tire. I've had tires with broken belts ride as perfect as can be, but litteraly howl as i'm going down the road. So that's bout all I can give ya bud, let us know what ya find

that would be a wheel bearing . to check what side it is just take a drive and sway back and forth if its louder when turning right then it the left side and the other way around

I agree that it's a hub bearing. The hubs get louder when unloaded, so since it gets louder when you turn left (which puts more weight on the right front), it's the left front that is bad.

I had the same thing in my 98 cavaler (samething as sunfire) and it was the rear wheel bearing. Like they said jack it up, fromt or back or both and it'll be pretty obvious which one if not more. at least mine was anyways. not bad to replace on the rear, a simple do-it-yourself project. my first one i did- 45min. good luck!
