So i had a valve cover leak and fixed it but then switched to Synthetic too soon and now the leak is back, is there anyway to fix an oil leak while running synthetic oil?

What milage, year, type (SE, GT, GTP) of Grand Prix do you own?

Did you isolate the old leak? Are you sure this is the same problem recurring?

Is your car yound and low mileage? Cause if you just swapped over to Synthetic at 100000km's your not helping that engine. Its recommended straight from the manufacturers that you son't go over 40000km if you want to run Synthetic.

1999 Grand Prix GT, leak is isolated, i know exactly whats going on. I was just wondering how to swtich out gaskets since your supposed to condition them when you switch to sythetic.

If anything i'll get liquid RTV gasket and put it on there, just hope i dont need in it...

Are your operating conditions so harsh that you need synthetic or is it just personal preference?

your car has rubber valve cover gaskets, and the RTV will turn them to snot and ruin them. The switch to synthetic will cause leaks on old seals and such because it flows thinner than conventional, but it shouldn't affect a recently replaced gasket or seal.

Should anything be used to seal the gaskets? or no?

Well its the exact same leak as i had and had the gasket replaced. About 2 weeks later i switched to full sythetic. I did it for personal pref. because it will still work better than conventional. I'll look but i'm 99% sure its from the same spot...

I"ve used conventional Havoline for 306,000 miles. I don't know how it could work any better.
