Fuel Pump ??

I have a 1993 Jamboree Calss C rv on a Ford E350 chassis. It has about 26,000 miles and lately it has stalled after a long (200 miles or more) trip. It seems like it is not getting any gas. After about 45 mins. it starts right up and goes OK.

I have been told that it may be the fuel pump. This one is in the fuel tank. Is there a way to check out whether it is indeed the fuel pump or some other part (like the filter)?

If it is the fuel pump I have been quoted $585.00 to replace it. Does this sound reasonible? They said that the pump alone cost $400.00. Thanks for the help.

That can be the fuel pump, I have seen those EXACT symproms cured with a new fuel pump.

I have also seen those symptoms caused by an overheated ignition module (TFI).

The only way to tell which problem your camper has is to get it to do this again, and attempt to start it on Ether (starting fluid) temporarily. If it runs on ether, then the ignition system is ok, if not, the ignition system is at fault.

The fuel pumps are about $200, and it will take 1-2 hours to change it. Please, do yourself a BIG favor, do not allow anyone to install "non-Ford/Motorcraft" parts on your van. The aftermarket ignition and fuel parts have nowhere near the quality of OE parts.

Thanks for the info. I'll give that method a try before I go through the fuel pump change.
