H22A is only running on 3 cylinders help!!!theclassic32 05-03-2006, 09:42 PM i swapped in the h22a in my accord but i have a huge problem. the first 3 cylinders are fine but the fourth is not working. while the car is on the idle goes up and down. So while the car was on i removed the spark plug wire from cylinder one and the car felt like it was going to turn off then i put it back. so i did that for the first 3 cylinders. then the 4th cylinder when i removed the spark plug wire nothing happened. so the whole time i was running on 3 cylinders. Also the car has be leaking a mixture of oil and gas coming out from the header and a lot of smoke is coming our from the exhaust which i know its because of the oil and gas. Can anyone help me with this problem does anyone know what it is. Is it a piston a piston ring is the motor bad? well if know one can help me then im just going to sell the car the way it is. i'll just hate myself in the end if it was an easy fix. my cellphone is 917 335 7837 if anyone can help please call me. or if you need to find something help out. thanks. 93civicsiracer 05-04-2006, 11:18 AM i hate to tell u this but i personaly think its ur valves.i say this because i had some of the same problems when i owned my d16z6. come to find out that i was running on 3 1/2 cylinders, i had burnt valves, cracks all over the place ,and i never gota stable idle no matter how many times or how good and on q my timing was, i never got it to stay still. whats the range of ur idle. i would think that u have this problem but just at a more advance state. but then again i dont personally know how the engine is running so its hard to say. oh and every once in a while the car woulld blow hella smoke and then just chill out. hope i was helpfull to u. let me know how things go. have u done a compression test. that tells everythings. theclassic32 05-04-2006, 11:26 AM no i haven't done a compression test. im hoping to do that soon once my friend gets the device to do it. it idles between 1000 and 1300 rpm's back and forth. how much something like that would cost to fix? hxgaser 05-08-2006, 01:07 PM This might be a simple issue. Very first thing that you should do is pull that spark plug wire and bring it close to a metal object, i.e. screw driver or a part of the block. If you see sparks flying, then check the sparkplug. Just pull out the spark plug, connect it to the plug wire and see if you see the spark flying between the electrodes. Be sure to wear a thick glove if you don't want to get zapped. Anyways, if you don't see spark at the end of the wire, then just swap the wire with one of the other ones and see if it works. Try simple things first before you get into complicated stuff. theclassic32 05-09-2006, 07:06 PM i have tried all of the above. i've changed the spark plugs and even used different wires. i have checked for spark and there is. So what could it be or what else could i do? hxgaser 05-09-2006, 08:55 PM well then, I guess it could be the valve(s) like the 93civicsiracer said. Check your compression. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
