Throttle body and PCM

Ok two questions. What is the purpose of the honeycomb screen in the T.body and is it needed.
Does the PCM need a steady flow of air? Is that why it was placed in the airbox.

The throttle body screen helps smooth and direct airflow, especially to the MAF sensor. You can operate without one but some have complained of getting a MAF sensor error code and SES light or an abnormal idle.

A lot of us do not have the PCM in the airbox as a result of running a CAI/FWI so I really don't believe it was put in the airbox for that specific reason.

Ok I was wondering, I pulled out the airbox and intake hose to start building my ramair system and took out the screen to clean it, I was wondering if it affected the airflow or not.
The pcm it just seemed weird to me to have it in the airbox unless there was a heat issue. Any idea why GM did that?

Poor enginering...who knows. A lot of GM cars have the PCM stored away under the dash. It won't preclude you from doing any intake mods. Just secure it with some wire ties or get a PCM tray.
