I'm still having problems ! I was able to open under the sterring column
and I found four thin wires one set was brown and green and went to the
top the box below the ingition switch it had no conector nearby but at one point below the box it was soldered togther so I cut it. It turn out to be for the chime when the I leave the keys in the igniton and open the door.
I tried to start the car with those two wires cut and It still started.
The other set was black and white. It was conected to a white peice of plastic that would allow me to take the key out. I disconected the conector
and tried to start the car and it started.
I'm still not able to start the car sometimes !!! please help

A lot of the connections and wires are for key release functions. If your intermittent starting problem has been isolated to the ignition switch and harness then it could be your problem. The primary ignition contacts are in the black module shown in the pic below. They engage or make contact via a cam and the key tumbler. What other indications do you have. Is the DIC OK? How about headlights, DRL, AC? Is the SECURITY light on? Any other Instrument Panel lights that should not be on? When you take the ignition to the on position do you hear the fuel pump prime? If it is a theft deterrent problem then you will not hear the fuel pump prime because the fuel pump relay will be disabled.

BTW - Is the engine just not turning over (cranking) or just not firing up?
