Alright so my bird has been acting up recently with a suspension problem (which I think I fixed), an exhaust leak (which isnt worth dealing with right now), various other little things. Now its decided that its gonna start missing at lower RPM's and at idle. I've cleaned the MAF, sea foamed the engine, used injector cleaner in the gas and its STILL doing IT!! I just replaced the plugs and wires (bosch plugs and Motorcraft wires) so I checked all connections and they're good and I even used electrical grease on all the connections. Im getting really stumped here. Now my thinking is down to either the Idle Air control valve, cats, or REALLY pulgged up injectors. Ill take ANY advice I can get! thanks fellas.

No CEL. Im going to have my buddy's dad bring over his $3000 code reader to see if we can pull anything but there is no light.

I guess I really just need to know this one thing. Can an autoparts store check my IAC? I dont want to spend $50 right now and not have that be the problem.

what year is it? is it a 3.8 5.0 or a 4.6. i hate to tell you, but if it is missing at a low rpm it could be an exhaust valve sticking,or bent.if you hold a small piece of paper to the tailpipe, will it pull it in some?

Its a '95 4.6L No its doesnt do that to the paper. It doesnt sound like a valve at all. The power is still there its just that you can feel and very slightly hear it miss up to about 800 RPM. Above that its just fine.

remove injector wires and note when engine DOES NOT CHANGE. if you replaced everything else it almost has to be an injector clogged. if it seems to top out ok,then your injectors may not be too bad so you may notice some change in idle w/every one you unplug. just listen for the one that changes it the least. TIP. if you need to replace just one,it must be calibrated w/other 7. in other words you need a whole set. unless you know someone at the ford parts counter who can get you a discount. then youll still pay a hefty price. summit sells sets reasonable.
