My honda accord 1997 4cyl is blowing hot air from the air conditioner. I bought the freon stuff with the gauge and it said that it was dangerously high so I didn't add any. I checked the fuses and antifreeze and they were all good. If you know an easy way of finding out whats wrong let me know what to do.

There isn't an east way to tell. a hole the size of a pin could be the problem. But since u have freeon in it and its not leaking its probably the compressor .

assuming you attached the guage properly and it was the right guage for that refridgerant type, you either need a compressor clutch or a compressor. When and if you open any part of the a/c system you should replace the accumulator/filter dryer.

I had a 96 accord that was not cooling good at all. I found the blending door was open about an inch. That's like having the heater on partially.

is your ac compress engaging? that was the problem with my 5th gen lx. the ac compressor relay was bad. if it dosnt turn on jump the relay and back probe the ac compressor it should blow cold air if u dont have a leak in ur system

57 ringo is about right.....I also have a 96 Accord lx and had the same problem. I bought the charging kit with the gauge as well, ( I did need a little charging) but apparently the temp gauge was all the way in the blue and still giving me hot air. I then took my dash apart (HAYNES MANUAL) used a set of needle nose pliers and pulled the control cable to shut off that heater door, and now a/c is ice cold!

It seems to be a trend because when i had a 96 accord the a/c was crazy too
