Which city has the best street racing scene?

Which city has the best street racing scene? By good street racing I mean there are a lot of people with a wide array of fast cars, and a lot of people willing to race. It's definitely not my city, around here very few people have modified cars, and the closest thing you can get to a racer is a soccer mom with road rage (those are always fun to race, one 30-something mom in a SUV recently gave me the finger after losing the stoplight challenge to me).

Down here in miami we have alot of ricers and probably for every 9 ricers we get 2 good drivers. It's fun and everything but alot of my races happen going to the Ft. lauderdale area. I heard orlando has drivers too.

At the local track in Orlando theres a huge sign that says "you think your fast untill you come to Orlando."

I dont know if we got fast cars that qualify us as a good street racing city, actually the tunners around here suck ass so it makes fast cars hard to come by. BUT we do have an over abundance of people willing to race at any time. You cannot turn a corner in Miami and not see a street race. I hop on the highway and in the 11 miles it takes me to get home I get into at least 3 dogfights.

Ricers are still better than nothing, around here we don't even have ricers.

we don't have anything in nyc, you have to go to certain spots in long island to see some races. and in new jersey things are pretty serious there.

I've heard Houston has a big racing scene, doesn't really suprise me though, since it is one of the biggest cities in the nation. Couple of 500+ whp civic hatches, vettes, vipers, porsches, supras, cobras, modded LS1's, R1's, Busa's, and my favorite, a R34 V Spec GT-R. Of course there is also the non racecars for us normal people to race, nearly stock STI's and Evo's,lightly modded integras and Mustangs. There's usually something going down every night, fairly easy to find someone to race.

Edit : Look what I found on sale http://houston.craigslist.org/car/148953361.html

I usually drive to Atlanta (about a 45 minute drive, not too bad). A WHOLE lot of ricers. Some decently quick cars though. Then you have the bad boys. We have a spot near Six Flags down here that only the bad boys go to. Ohhhh myyy goodddd is it fun to watch them. Every car there is on a trailer.

Street racing used to be huge here in central IL, but due to much BS and drama and police interference no one does shit around here anymore..

In the midwest we have a lot of old muscle races which I don't care to get myself in seeing as how they people there have 10-13 second cars only. In fact, there are two guys here supposed to race but I've been hearing that for a while. One of them is a built up Cuda with enormous slicks on the back (in fact I saw him lift the front end of his car up outside the local Hy-Vee) and a bottle of NO2 in the back, the other is a custom hot rod with open headers coming out the side (he also has a large set of meats) and a parachute waiting to be deployed on the back (it has a custom paint job that says "black widow" on it). I've heard each run 9's. Otherwise there isn't a whole lot of racing around here, about average.

Where i live (Calgary) the street racing is pretty damn big for a city with a population of under 1million. Everyone meets up in an area just outside of the industrial park, then people pick roads and everyone just migrates there... But as i said, pretty big, loads of Skyline GTS's, a few GTR's, RX7's, Supra MkII, III and IVs, plenty of foxbodys with superchargers and juice, Chevelles, Camaros....you name it. Oh and of course, those damn DSM's :D

I'd say Tokyo, cause all their street racing is tied in with Drifting. With white guys from Oklahoma... and short black rapper kids.

HAHA that made me chuckle...

Chicago area is pretty decent, most of my experience with the good street racing is in Naperville. Lots of rich kids that parents will give endless amounts of money to for mods and suprisingly a lot of good drivers. Lots of Supras, LS2 GTO's, Lightnings, and '03-'04 Cobras.

its not really that bug here in mke,wi, but i dont think ricer can make big statements about wi all the time, since he is in country land. mostly ricers, or swapped b series civics. the muscleheads get really mad off the civics when they get beat. when im on the freeway, i get races all the time, depends on the time of day though.

LOL! Naw, that was just kind of a joke. We tried to start up a website for it, but the KCSR guys just came in and started whoring it up. Its actually decent, but its nothing to write home about. In MO, your better off hitting up STL or KC, but if you don't wanna go drive all that far out, you can get some decent runs in Como. There are some wicked fast cars, and alot of cars that are pretty quick too. And if nothing else, you can pick on the ricers real easy. I'm a Texas boy, so I don't know to much about distances in MO, but if Lebanon isn't that far from Como, you should come up and check it out. I mean, it will give ya something to do if you have free time.

In seriousness, I think in the US, the major areas are probably Houston, LA, Miami, and I've heard that Omaha and some parts of Nebraska have some serious racing. I've seen some of the Houston SR vids, and I know VissionBoy is in Galveston, and they have some real fast cars down there. I think the size of the racing in a city is dependant on both size of the city and the availability of areas to race in. I have some friends in Houston who say there are tons of areas for all kinds of racing (good country areas outside of the city for one on one stuff, and the highways are awesome for roll racing), and I know the few times I've been to STL, there has been plenty of good areas to race in, and I've gotten in a few races there.

Another thing I can't confirm but some of you Chitown guys might be able to is in Metro East St. Louis. More specifically Bellville/Fairview. My girlfriend is from that area, and while I've never seen any racing down there myself, she said she had some friends in highschool that would run down there, and the few times I've been there, I've seen some awesome areas to race in. That, and some guy on RX7club with an 11 second FD lives there. Again, someone else would need to confirm that one for me.

ChiTown does seem like a big hub for SR'ing. Seen a few 'trailer' videos from guys up there.

Pretty intense stuff, me... I'm happy with the little to no SR scene near me, there's racing of course and people do meet up. But I just cruise and get whatever I can whenever I guess... I don't go out 'seeking' races though. I'm very selective of what and who and where I decide to go illegal in my driving.

I think the topic may be to vague. I'd say instead of going by "city" we should narrow it down by state. There are thousands of cities in the U.S. and canada so it'd be hard to pick the good ones. Maybe we should start another thread with a Poll? Have all 50 (or just the main ones, 48 hahaha) and have people vote. Anyway just an idea. Arizona is so so...depends on where you go i guess. Certain places in Phx, mesa, tuscon ya know.

^^ That would be a good idea but how many people could actually have an intelligent vote. Is there very many people on here that have raced throughout the country so that they can give an answer to which state out of 50 has the best street racing? I dont know, just my .02.

North Jersey is pretty rediculous...bergen and passaic countys right outside the city everyone has a nice car, lots of vettes, cobras, 350zs, and supras . And everyone has an ego so they all wanna race.
