1992 Dodge Ram Van 250 runs very bad

I started my 318 Dodge van after it had set for 3 weeks and it started running like it had a real rich mixture and ran very rough. I checked the codes with the key method and it shows a code 27 which indicates a wrong response from the fuel injection. In the last few months it showed a code 52 that didn't seem to effect the running or mileage. I cleared this code by disconnecting the battery cable. The Dodge agency gave the van a major tuneup plus a rebuilt computer and several other electric parts about 2 yeqrs ago. The van has ran good since then other than the Code 52 several times. My Chilton manual doesn't give any info on Code 27. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this Code 27 problem? Thanks

Um I can tell you this :

My 89 van has gotten error code 52 a few time recently, and developed a hard starting problem, that started out severe and then on its own got much milder but is still present. It shakes, especially when its cold outside. If I start it at noon it seems to be fine, or at least much quicker. wehn its warmed up it runs much better...

I had a faulty fuel injector, but I have tbi injection. However, after replacement the problem still existed.

I plan on replacing the oxygen sensor ( again I have a different van, 1 oxygen sensor only) on monday as maintenance and hoping it fixes itself, but Ive replaced about 6 different things

oh geez u dont mean error 37 do you? do you have error 37 and 52? because those are the exact same ones I have. Ignore error 37 it means nothing most likely its a non existing component error. Part throttle unlock. Had that error since the car was new.

edit I am mistaken your van is exactly like mine ignore the things that say you are different.

You have the same errors and symptoms as mine right now. Pretty much same circumstances, I mean I barely drive my van. Go ahead and pull off the air cleaner and look at the two injectors, eyeball them both to see they are both firing.

Both of you have injector drive errors from the ECM (SMEC) module.
They have 1 year free warranty, so 831johnc may be able to get a replacement for free.

What you could check is to disassemble the ecu and look for corrosive deposits and clean the connections up, maybe even rework/resolder the ECM, but there's no guarantee you won't make things even worse if you do it wrong.

I had an 89 with this problem. after 3 ECM's (2 under warranty!) all was well until I sold the van at 240K miles.
