SuperchargerXCONANX 07-15-2002, 10:49 AM I just reached my first sevice on my SC/SE. Are there any special service procedures for the supercharger? I'm having the dealer do it I just want to know if I'm going to be in for a surprise. Also, does anyone know of any supercharger mods out there? ozxterra 07-22-2002, 02:19 AM Shouldnt be any suprises in store. I havent heard of any mods for the Supercharger. Anything in specific you are looking for?? Perhaps some K&N mods?? You might want to ask Chuck or Rrdstarr. ChuckH 07-22-2002, 03:29 AM Probably the best thing to add would be a K&N AirCharger kit. Somebody makes a smaller pulley for the SC that would produce more boost, but it's really not a good idea. The supercharger on the Xterra is small and isn't meant to spin that fast. Plus, the Xterra transmission would likely be stressed. Keep in mind that anything you do could create warranty problems. dajuice 12-28-2002, 07:59 AM where can i get the smaller pulley? im lookin to add some more horses to my stable. Utildayael 12-31-2002, 03:12 AM Originally posted by dajuice where can i get the smaller pulley? im lookin to add some more horses to my stable. Note the warning about the pulley. I'd consult your dealor before you even touch it, just a thought. :) As for SC mods, only one I've seen really worth a damn is the K&N Aircharger. There's not too much you can do for mods to the Nissan engine short of rebuilding the whole damn thing, at least in my experience. :) hattrik21 01-03-2003, 11:47 AM I've done the bypass mod for the super charger and though it does add any ponies, there isn't any lag at all when you step on the gas to pass someone. One of the guys on the XOC board has a nice little step by step guide for it. Check out the pulley from Pulley Boys. www.pulleyboys.com Safer bet would be to get the 2.4 size and not the 2.3 size. Probably the best bang for the buck mod. With this you should also consider a boost gauge and intake. gtper 04-24-2003, 08:19 PM hey i got a pully from pullyboy there is another site that will rent you the puller and ordenardy one will damage the shaft i bought a puller and didnt know you can rent them i paid 60 bucks for pully and 125 for puller but what a bost i had to retern my 3.25 it over heated the superchsrger without 3" pipes air induction and othr mods you might save some trpuble and get the 3.4 and be safe thats just what i went threw it's your deal rrdstarr 04-25-2003, 12:22 AM Wow, great English! ChuckH 04-25-2003, 01:07 AM Originally posted by gtper hey i got a pully from pullyboy there is another site that will rent you the puller and ordenardy one will damage the shaft i bought a puller and didnt know you can rent them i paid 60 bucks for pully and 125 for puller but what a bost i had to retern my 3.25 it over heated the superchsrger without 3" pipes air induction and othr mods you might save some trpuble and get the 3.4 and be safe thats just what i went threw it's your deal Huh? Schludwiller 04-25-2003, 11:42 AM Funny, I just glazed over the whole thing and understood the post. That is until you yayhoo's brought it up. :bloated: jglenn84 04-29-2003, 11:07 PM Don't add the K&N air charger...after investigation I've found, as have others, that K&N filters are at 20 microns where any particle larger than 5.5 microns will dirty your oil faster and cause damage to your engine. There are some air chargers and filters that are at 5 microns, not letting any of those possibly damaging particles in your engine. K&N says they use the 20 microns rather than the 5 micron to let in more air, but by doing that you're also letting in more particles. Here's a blurb from AMSOIL: A common spin on oil filter is a "full-flow" filter. This means that the full flow of the engine's oil passes through the filter as the oil travels between the oil pump and the engine. The Amsoil full-flow (spin on) filter is a "lofted fiber" filter, providing nearly 35 percent longer life and 30 percent more capacity than traditional spin-on filters. A bypass engine oil filter is situated outside the main line of circulation. The bypass filter bleeds off a portion of the oil flow, retaining the oil longer and thereby doing a more thorough job of cleaning the oil. Traditionally, a spin on filters particles as small as 20 microns, but 60% of all engine wear comes from particles in the 5-20 micron range. Amsoil bypass filters trap particles smaller than 1 micron. I'm looking into the AIRAID air charger also. rrdstarr 04-30-2003, 02:19 AM Hmmmm? I find I get a lot less particualtes in my intake then I ever did with the stock Nissan filter! I also run a foam wrap on my K&N Aircharger. No problems. Also I have run K&N filters on my last five vehicles....no problems with them either. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
