hey guys,
my 97 gt sputters or surges when im in drive/neutral but not moving, a guy i work with and used to work on GM's sayed i should clean out the throttle body, when i took the intake off i found the throttle body but the screen is right there.....should i spray some cleaner in there or what? how the hell should i clean it out?
or should i be looking into some other problem, i just had the coolant flushed with new dex cool along with a tranny flush...btw its a 3800 motor with just over 85k
any help would be appreciated.

You should not have got your tranny flushed it messes up the transmission later on.

how/why do you say this, its crazy not to have the trans flushed, especiall at 85k, the fluid was horrible

I agree with likin8. Tranny flush whether full or fluid exchange is questionable at that mileage. All that is recommended is a pan drop consisting of ATF (Dextron-III) and the screen filter.
Were you having problems before the tranny flush?
On the throttle body remove the c-clip retainer keeping the screen in place, remove screen, and clean the inside of the TB bore with STP throttle body spray cleaner. BTW - With engine off not running. Then remove the idle air controller (IAC) and clean the pintle. Then clean the IAC seat where the IAC mounts on the throttle body.

there is nothing wrong with doing a flush at lower miles. the only time you shouldn't do a flush is at higher miles. I would not spray any chemicals into your mass air sensor, run some good injector cleaner through for a couple tanks, maybe change fuel filter.

The MAF sensor should be removed first when cleaning the throttle body and using throttle body spray cleaner. And it is safe to use MAF sensor spray cleaner (Gunk brand) on the MAF sensor. I do all of my MAF sensors every 6 months or so. More frequently on my GTP due to the oiled K&N style cone air filter on the Thrasher CAI.
