interior color (BEIGE) changing it to the gray black. Kidlex01 04-11-2006, 01:52 AM
anyone know the best way to change the beige carpet on the roof and on the side pillars that are beige , i want it to match the factory vinyl and carpet, ive seen the carpet spray paint but im not to sure that spray paint is the way to go, and then with the plastic parts im not sure how to go about that, is there a website i can buy replacement plastic parts or am i gonna have to custom paint it, ive seen some viynl panels that have been painted some turn out good and ive seen some nasty ones, the carpet on the roof i can always go and buy the carpet they use for sub box building and use some 3m adhesive glue that comes in the can extra strength ive used that before. any help is appreciated. Thanks Smokefan20 04-11-2006, 02:49 AM As far as replacement parts i am always amazed as to what can be found on EBAY. As far as the painting the parts yourself, I would check out Dupli color. They make some paint that is great for plastics. A good prep job is key! :smokin: GOODLUCK! xeroinfinity 04-11-2006, 11:00 AM anyone know the best way to change the beige carpet on the roof and on the side pillars that are beige , i want it to match the factory vinyl and carpet, ive seen the carpet spray paint but im not to sure that spray paint is the way to go, and then with the plastic parts im not sure how to go about that, is there a website i can buy replacement plastic parts or am i gonna have to custom paint it, ive seen some viynl panels that have been painted some turn out good and ive seen some nasty ones, the carpet on the roof i can always go and buy the carpet they use for sub box building and use some 3m adhesive glue that comes in the can extra strength ive used that before. any help is appreciated. Thanks BEIGE? what year is this? You are talking about the headliner? That Duplicolor Paint does work great for plastic, like Smokefan20 said prep is key. As for the panels and parts, check your local salvage yard and see if they hav them in the colors you are changing to. Probley get them cheap, might even find the carpet you are looking to change. Good Hunting! gmack221 04-11-2006, 05:05 PM As far as painting plastic I was talking to a friend that did his car, he said to used SEM interior dye (paint). *Also get the SEM adhesion promoter. *He said "I just wiped everything down with acetone, sprayed the promoter, and sprayed the paint in 2 -3 light coats." I've heard SEM is the best, but I don't know enough about it, maybe its the same stuff they are talking about, but I don't know that much about it, so I asked a friend that did. Probably be easier to buy a complete interior from a yard or off e-bay though. GASE 95 04-12-2006, 12:17 PM painting your interior is pretty easy..its just a little time consuming but if you have a free afternoon you can get it all done. I did mine and just used a GM brand spray paint from walmart. I did it 3 years ago and its just as nice as it was the day i did it. Heres some pics of it in my cardomain. If ur interested i would be more than happy to tell you how. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/626023/2 xeroinfinity 04-12-2006, 08:56 PM Kidlex01, painting that plastic stuff is really easy once its removed.
