Whistle Blower - GM In Trouble papanots 04-08-2006, 11:08 AM
This is nothing new. But now, more proof that GM knew all along and was trying to hide it. A full list of affected vehicles is at the bottom of the article. I have already asked for a re-imbursement for my gasket that was done two months ago on my 2002 Impala LS. I love the car, but I hate the shoddy workmanship. http://sympaticomsn.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060330/whistleblower_gm_060406 gaspig 04-08-2006, 11:22 AM Were you successful? papanots 04-08-2006, 11:29 AM Were you successful? Still pending. I fired off the link to the article to GM and will be sending a hard copy via Fed Ex on Monday. Like I said, I really love this car but with this, the shoddy workmanship as well as on-going tranny trouble (see previous post) I'm pretty much at patience end. I will post any update to my complaint. gaspig 04-08-2006, 03:32 PM I also had the lower intake gasket on my 2002 Mallibu replaced two months ago at 100k and GM offered me 50/50 "goodwill". I then sent a registered letter threaterning small claims court if not fully reimbursed and was offered another $200 bringing the compensation to 67%GM / 33%me. I plan to proceed with a court application to seek full reimbursement - more a matter of principle than the amount outstanding at this point. However, now GM can cover my court costs too. troy1 04-09-2006, 10:08 PM Are they talking about 3800's here? ("Upper intake manifold composite material may degrade...and could result in an internal or external coolant leak.") I would assume its the EGR stove pipe area. I always thought the 3100/3400 would be the first to get major attention with their lower intake gasket problems hunnybunny 08-01-2007, 07:55 PM Just goes to show you how car manufacturing companies make "imperfections" in their vehicles to wallet rape you. This is pathetic! They knew for years!? I am JUST finding out now. I plan on taking my car in to the shop in the morning to see if my impala is affected by this. maxwedge 08-01-2007, 08:35 PM This thread is dead. Over one year old.
